How to celebrate Deepawali
Deepawali is not just a festival for worshipping Goddess Lakshmi, eating sweets, wearing new clothes or lighting ghee lamps. There is a great secret significance of this festival and understanding it can enable one to celebrate the festival in the best possible manner.
Every Indian eagerly waits for the festival of Deepawali as it is the best of all festivals. Homes are cleaned, new clothes are stitched, sweets and other savoury dishes are prepared for the festival and in the night of Diwali Goddess Lakshmi is worshipped.
Diwali was the day when thousands of years ago Lord Ram returned to Ayodhya having defeated and killed Ravan. The people of Ayodhya celebrated his homecoming by lighting ghee lamps all over the city and by decorating their streets and houses.
It is to remember those moments that every year Diwali is celebrated as a favoured festival. More importance is given to this day than even the birthday of the Lord, Ramnavmi, or Maargshirh Shukla Panchami when Lord Ram and Sita were married.
Even the ancient texts contain reference to this very auspicious day. What is the reason for this day being so important?
It is one of the greatest and most enthusiastically celebrated festivals of all times. Preparations for this start from Navratri itself. But there is a very deep significance behind this festival and if we celebrate it without understanding the same then we would be merely performing a formality.
Diwali is no ordinary festival and one should surely keep the following points in mind while celebrating this festival.
1. The Indian season of Sharad can be divided into three parts - Hemant, Shishir and Vasant. Hemant is a very pleasant season which fills one with joy. It is a time when pleasant thoughts rise in one's mind. One is filled with feelings of love, pleasure and joy. According to the ancient texts a child born or conceived in this season is very intelligent and talented.
2. With Navratri the crop of rice is reaped and trees are laden with flowers in gardens and forests. Grains are harvested in this season, and grains as we well know are the very basis of life.
3. On the day of Dhantrayodashi a special ritual is accomplished which is called Deepdaan. In it lamps are lit for every individual in the family and ancestors and they are floated in a river or pond. It is a day for gaining the blessings and good wises of one's ancestors. One seeks the help of the ancestors for safeguarding one's interests and one's assets.
4. Dhantryodashi is the birthday of Dhanvantri, the great master of Ayurved. If a person is ailing ten pleasures and worship prove useless. Dhanvantri appeared from the ocean at the time of its churning and he had a pot of elixir in his hands.
With this elixir the Gods could gain eternal youth, handsomeness and divinity. One who succeeds in gaining the blessings of Dhanvantri remains ever youthful and disease free.
5. Roop Chaturdashi is a Soundarya Siddhi Diwas i.e. on this day one can perform some Sadhana for gain of beauty and magnetism. Just as flowers and leaves cannot appear on a dry tree similarly a person who is deprived of handsomeness, joy and vigour cannot rise in life.
He remains angry, tense and troubled throughout life. In life beauty and good looks are just as important as good health.
6. It is the duty of every human to take care of one's body and maintain its good looks. Keeping the physique fit and healthy and also improving one's appearance through external means are equally important.
Roop Chaturdashi and Dhanvantri Jayanti are the days when one can pray for both these boons i.e. a healthy and beautiful body.
Over the ages people forgot the significance of these days and businessmen used the occasion to perform worships for the expansion of their business. This is not the real purpose of these two wonderful days.
Very few people give a thought as to how to celebrate the festival of Diwali. on the day of Diwali a new year begins. Early in the morning on this day one should have a bath and perform at least three types of worships.
Firstly one should offer prayers to the Guru. Then one should pay one's respect to one's parents. And lastly one should worship one's family deity.
It is when a person obtains the good wishes of these three that his life can become totally successful. It is one's chief duty to propitiate them and offer one's heart felt regards in their feet.
Diwali is a holiday all over India. Generally all family members get together to perform the worship of Goddess Lakshmi, eat together the choicest dishes and light lamps.
One should try to prepare sweets at home and avoid buying from the market. Only home made and the best sweets should be offered to the gods and the deities.
It is also an important ritual to light candles and ghee lamps in and around the house. This is not a mere tradition. Fire represents energy. And the night of Diwali is moonless.
Lighting lamps in this night signifies dispelling of darkness. It also signifies that no matter how difficult any problem that one faces in life, through the light of the soul one could find way through the darkest of times.
All try to accomplish the worship and Sadhana of Goddess Mahalakshmi in this night in the hope that the Goddess would bless one with property and affluence. But before one tries Sadhana of Lakshmi one should understand how Lakshmi was born.
She did not appear in an ordinary manner, rather she originated from the ocean at the tine of its churning. When she appeared she was chosen by Lord Vishnu as his consort. This tale signifies that Lakshmi or wealth can be had in life only after putting in great efforts.
No doubt good luck is important in life. But success comes only through hard work. Where there is perseverance there is bound to be success.
Perseverance means a strong will power so that the mind could become sharp and concentrated. Lakshmi has been called Karma Prabhaav Prakaashini i.e. were there is hard work its fruit manifests in the form of the divinity and blessings of Lakshmi.
Those who lack determination in their lives and are lazy, unwilling to work, a prey to bad habits have weak minds. And a person with a weak mind cannot rise high in life or become wealthy.
On the day next to Diwali, a special worship known as Govardhan Pooja is accomplished. This worship is performed before sun rise at the entrance to one's home.
In it a special Yantra is prepared with cow dung and a ghee lamp is lit. In India it is believed that all gods are present in the body of a cow. We obtain milk, ghee from the cow which are the very basis of life. That is why this ritual is performed and cow dung is worshipped.
It is on this day that people visit each other's home to wish each other. Everyone tries to include others in his or her happiness. Guests are most welcome on this day and they are treated to sweets and dishes.
The above mentioned points should be kept in mind while celebrating the festival of Diwali. It is a festival when the following vows can be taken.
1. I shall work hard in life. I won't waste any time at all. I shall reflect upon my mistakes and shall learn from them.
If there appears some problem in life I shall not feel troubled but shall try to find a solution to it with a cool mind. I shall try to find out how the problem arose and how it could be overcome.
2. No matter how dark the times I shall keep the light of my mind turned on and with a conscious mind I shall try to find a way out. I would seek recourse of Sadhanas and hard work to overcome all problems of life.
3. I shall take care of my body and never fall prey to bad habits. I shall try to maintain a good health. I shall also try to improve my looks so as to appear appealing to all.
4. I shall include all family members in important decisions. I shall give respect to my spouse and treat my children well. I shall try to keep the family united.
5. I shall surely offer prayers to the Guru, ancestors and family deity before starting some important work or Sadhana. All that I possess is due to the blessings of my Guru, parents and the gods.
6. In the night of this year's Diwali I shall take some pledge. A strong will power improves life. And success in some aim boosts one's confidence and opens up doors to new and higher goals.
7. I will pray to Lakshmi to remain permanently in my home. I shall not be extravagant and not misuse the wealth that I have.
If one celebrates Diwali with these vows in mind then this festival really becomes benefic. This is a sure way of ensuring a year full of joy, beauty, knowledge, intelligence and good health.
Diwali shall come every year but this year can be special if you keep these vows in mind. The best wishes of revered Gurudev and Mataji are with you.

Kamala - The Wealth Giver

Dharma (proper action), Arth (wealth), Kaam(pleasures) and Moksha (fulfilment) are considered the four basic pivots of a total and complete life. Among these four wealth comes foremost, for without it life becomes barren like a desert. And the deity of wealth is the Mahavidya Kamala, who frees her Sadhak of debts, poverty, tensions, problems, sins, diseases and danger of untimely death. And not just this she bestows upon him sharp intellect, charming personality, wealth, health, a beautiful spouse, children, property, vehicles, fame and respect.
Every person whether old or young wishes to be rich; and the best and easiest way to prosperity is the Sadhana of Kamala. This Sadhana is unfailing, so much so that even a poor, unfortunate, disease-ridden wretch can get rid of all his misfortunes and climb to the highest echelons of material success through this wonderful ritual. It’s not just believed, it is the experience of so many Sadhaks that if accomplished with full devotion this Sadhana cannot fail to produce its effects.
On 25.1.99 or any Monday get up early in the morning, take a bath and get into red clothes. Cover a wooden seat with red cloth. Inscribe
shreem
on a steel plate with vermilion. On it place Kamala Yantra. On its right hand side place the Siddh Gutika. Light incense and ghee lamp. Offer vermilion, rice grains, sweets and flowers on the Yantra. -

Dhoomavati - The Terrifier

"I was working in a high government post, when one day I received a letter that threatened me of dire consequences unless I left the place or secured a transfer.I was very much worried and in this state one day as I was strolling on the river bank, I heard my name being called. As I turned I saw a Sadhu approaching me. ‘You have been threatened’, he said. Before I could reply he continued - ‘There are hidden enemies who won’t hesitate to kill. Come here tomorrow night.’ I returned to the place the next night to find the Sadhu seated before a fire. He asked me to join him and for the next two hours he accomplished some ritual. After the Mantra recital he told me that the Goddess Dhoomavati would now protect me. "
"The very next day two men armed with guns rushed into my office. However as soon as they faced me terror swam over their facial features and to my surprise, they turned and ran as if for their lives."
"Amazed, I went in search of the Sadhu and related the event to him. ‘Ma sure terrified them’, he said laughing boisterously. Then he added - ‘My work is done. Thank your Gurudev for sending me here!’ With this he disappeared, leaving me all the more bewildered. I sure had a Guru and he had helped me several times but this time he had saved me from sure death."
These are the words of one of Gurudev’s disciples, who got a chance to witness the power of Goddess Dhoomavati who is a terror for one’s enemies. Even ghosts and evil spirits dare not touch her Sadhak. She drives away all baneful influences like diseases and illnesses. The gaze of the Sadhak becomes so powerful that even the staunchest enemy quails in his presence. The Goddess protects her Sadhak throughout life from the worst of calamities.
The Sadhana of this Mahavidya can be done on any moonless night or on 17.1.99. After 10 p.m. take a bath, wear black robes and sit alone in a room facing South on a black worship mat. Before yourself place a wooden seat covered with a black cloth. In a steel plate place Dhoomavati Yantra. On one side place the picture of the Goddess. Next to it in another plate place a Vajra Dand and Dhoomavati Mala.
Take some mustard seeds and throwing them in all directions chant thus -
Om Apsarpantu Ye Bhootaah Ye Bhootaah Bhoomi Sansthitaah. Ye Bhootaa Vignakartaaraste Nashyantu Shivaagyaa. Apkraamantu Bhootaani Pishaachaah Sarvato Disham. Sarveshaam-virodhen Poojaakarma Samaarabhe.
Offer vermilion, rice grains, flowers, incense, ghee lamp and some sweet on the picture of the Guru. Bathe the Yantra with fresh water and wipe it dry. Make a mark with Kaajal on it. Light an oil lamp and incense. Offer sweets and fruit on the Yantra. Chant 4 rounds of Guru Mantra and then 21 rounds of the following Mantra with Dhoomavati Mala.
Dhoom Dhoom Dhoomaavati Tthah Tthah
After the Sadhana don’t sleep that night. Sit in meditation. Next morning chant one round of the Mantra and then go and throw the Yantra in a river. Thereafter chant one round of the Mantra daily for 45 days. After 3 months throw the rosary and Vajra Dand too in a river.

Tara - The Provider

Laxmi or wealth is mercurial in nature, never staying in one pocket or in one house. To flow away is its inherent nature. To prosper one needs to tie it down, a feat next to impossible. However to a Goddess who is famed to provide her Sadhaks not with money but pure gold, nothing is impossible, least of all making one rich! Siddhi of Tara means driving away poverty forever. I myself know of a disciple of Gurudev who did not even have enough to eat. But the day he met Paramhans Swami Nikhileshwaranand -Gurudev Dr. Narayan Dutt Shrimali in his ascetic Avataar - his fortune started to change for the better, till be became a billionaire. And all this happened just by virtue of the power of Mahayidya Tara whose Sadhana kind Gurudev had gifted him. Here very efficacious practices of the Goddess are being produced.
Tara Sadhana
On 31.1.99 or any Wednesday take a bath and wear pink robes. Cover a wooden seat with pink cloth and on it place Tara Yantra. Make 4 mounds of rice grains around the Yantra. On each mound place a clove. Light a ghee lamp. Take water in right palm & chant.
Om Apavitrah Pavitro Vaa Sarvaavasthaam Gatopi Vaa Yah Smaret Pundareekaaksham Sa Baahyaabhyantarah Shuchih.
Sprinkle the water over yourself. Join your palms and pray thus to the Goddess.
Pratyaaleedd Padaaarpitaam-ghrishavhrid Ghoraattahaasaa Paraaa. Khadagendeevarkartri Kharparbhujaa Hoonkaarbeejodbhavaa. Kharvaaneel Vishaalapingal Jataajooteikanaageiryutaa. Jaadayam Nyasya Kapaalike Trijagataam Hantyugrataaraa Swayam.

Baglamukhi - The Victory Giver

Brahmaastram Cha Pravakshyaami Sadayah Pratyay
Kaarannam. Yasya Smarann Maatrenn Pavanopi Sthiraayet
Expounding the great power of the Goddess Baglamukhi the text Mantra Maharnnav states -"The Mantra of the Goddess has the power of the divine weapon Brahmastra instilled in it and the Goddess simply strikes terror in and paralyses the enemies of her Sadhaks. Repetition of her Mantra is enough to stop even a tempest."
What more can be said about this invincible Mahavidya who along with her 16 Shaktis (divine weapons) can subdue the most formidable of foes. Her greatness has been proven time and again over the ages. And not just great Siddhs like Matsyendranath, even rulers like Vikramaditya, Chandragupt and Aurangzeb regularly propitiated the Goddess for victory in life. The great western Tantra scholar Summerfield has gone so far as to state that the combined forces of the whole world cannot face the fury of the Goddess, who removes poverty, enemies, tensions with a single swipe of her sword. And I have myself seen several Sadhaks and disciples of Gurudev regain their lost positions and emerge victorious in seemingly lost battles of life through the power of Baglamukhi Mantra.
It’s better to get Baglamukhi Diksha before starting this Sadhana. Complete celibacy should be observed during Sadhana days. One should wear yellow clothes and use yellow articles in the Sadhana. Offerings should include some sweet made from gram flour.
The ritual can be started from 5.1.99 or any Tuesday. It must be done early in the morning. After taking a bath get into a yellow Dhoti/Saree. Spread a yellow cloth on a wooden seat. Fill a copper tumbler with water. On its mouth place a coconut. Place picture of the Guru on the seat and pray to the Guru. In a steel plate establish the Baglamukhi Yantra along with Peetaambraa Mala and Peetaambraa Gutika. Light a ghee lamp, take water in your right palm & chant.
Viniyog
Om Asya Shree Baglaamukhi Mantrasya Naarad Rishih Trishtup Chhandah Baglaamukhi Devataa. Hleem Beejam Swaha Shaktih. Take yellow flowers and Peetaambra Gutika in both hands and chant thus.
Om Namo Bhagwati, Om Namo Veer Pratap Vijay Bhagwati Baglaamukhi! Offer the yellow flowers & the Gutika on the Yantra. Next chant 21 rounds of the following Mantra -
Om Hleem Baglaamukhi Sarva Dushtaanaam Vaacham Mukham Padam Stambhay Jihvaam Keelay Buddhim Vinaashay Hleem Om Phat.
Next light a holy fire with sandalwood or wood of mango tree or peepal tree. Prepare a mixture of honey, milk, ghee, rice and mustard seeds. Make 1000 offerings of this mixture in the fire. After the Sadhana throw the Sadhana articles in a river.

The name of the Mahavidya itself means the ruler of the world and a Sadhak of Bhuvaneshwari is always victorious on all fronts in life and becomes all-powerful. Even Ram had to propitiate the Goddess before defeating Ravan who had conquered even heaven.
A Sadhak of Bhuvaneshwari gains a mesmerising personality that draws all people to him and makes them readily obey his command. Diseases, enemies and problems are forever banished from his life and he has unexpected and huge monetary gains. Such a person conquers all problems in life - even the danger of untimely death. The Mahavidya Sadhanas

Mahakali - The Saviour

Mahakali has forever been worshipped as the saviour of good in its perpetual struggle against evil. When even Gods were on the verge of being overcome by the demons, She manifested in this "Rudra" (angry) form and that was the end of seemingly unconquerable demons like Raktbeej. Her form - long, lolling tongue dripping blood, a garland of freshly severed human heads around her neck and snakes coiled around her arms and ankles in lieu of armlets and anklets - is enough to strike terror in the most evil of humans.
Her Sadhana means not just attaining courage and valour but also the divine grace of Shiva, her consort. Rudra Mahakali is the annihilator of all pains, afflictions, problems and enemies in one’s life. On her Sadhak she bestows perfect health and youth. Death cannot come uncalled to such a person. Her divine presence means birth of supreme conscience and intelligence. A hypnotic charm keeps radiating from the physique of a Siddh of Mahakali. Friends he has many and foes dare not harm him.
Like a mother, Kali fulfils all needs of a Sadhak and blesses him with wealth, fame, respect and a happy family life. And where she assures material prosperity, she also ensures spiritual upliftment.
The Sadhana of Mahakali can be started on any moonless night. One propitious day is 26.1.99. Sit facing South on a black mat. Place a steel plate filled with black sesamum seeds before yourself. On it place Mahakali Yantra. Pray to the Yantra chanting thus.
Karaal Vadanaam Ghoraam Muktakeshim-chaturbhujaa Namaami Rakta Kaaleem Taam Mundmaalaa Vibhooshitaam. Ghor-raavaam Mahaaroudreem Shamshaanaalay Vaseeneem, Baalaark-mandalaakaar Lochana-tritayaa-nvitaam.
Offer vermilion and rice grains on the Yantra. Next chant 11 rounds of the following Mantra with Mahakali Mala -
Namah Aam Aam Krom Krom Phat Swaha Kaali Kaalike Hoom.
This is a fourteen day Sadhana. After the Sadhana throw the articles in a river on any full moon night.

Obstacles For a Sadhak
It is necessary for a new initiate in the world of Sadhanas not to be frustrated or lose hope by the initial failures. This is a wonderful article for the new Sadhaks which they shall find really heartening and encouraging.
All Sadhanas and spiritual practices have a particular sequence and process. Till all rules are not followed success in Sadhanas remains doubtful. Sometimes success remains elusive to a Sadhak even after hard work. This could be due to the bad Karmas of one's past lives,
Sometimes we also see evil and corrupt individuals earning respect, fame and wealth in life. On the other hand those devoted to the Lord are seen suffering from pain and sorrow. Following are some interesting facts reading which a person could learn low to neutralise past bad Karmas and earn success in Sadhanas.
1. Health

The biggest obstacle to success in any field is bad health. A person can successfully accomplish Sadhanas only when he is perfectly healthy and free from diseases. It is almost impossible to attain to success in Sadhanas through the medium of an unhealthy body. Hence one should be punctual in sleeping, rising, eating etc so that the body could be always fit. Natural healthy food, regular exercise and Yogic postures or Asans go a long way in keeping the body healthy.

2. Food
The second obstacle is unhygienic food that not only corrupts the health rather also gives rise to worry and mental disturbance. This is why our ancient texts stress so much on the purity of the food one consumes. There is a saying in the texts - Jaisa Ann Vaisa Mann!
The food one eats determines the purity of one's thoughts. The type of food that one consumes definitely has an effect on one's thoughts. mind, actions. There are said to be three categories of food according to the ancient texts - First category consists of sour, spicy, hot food which is called Raajasi. The second category consists of stale food, leftovers, meat and wine called Taamsik food. The third category consists of food obtained through pure means, which is neither too spicy nor too hot. It is called Saatvik. It is this type of food that one should eat.
Eating Taamsik and Raajsik food leads to lust, anger, greed, infatuation, arrogance and jealousy. It leads to loss of physical and mental health. Thus a Sadhak could deviate from path of Sadhanas. So one should eat pure and less food.
3. Doubts

The third obstacle on the path of Sadhanas is doubt. When the Guru directs a new person on the path of Sadhanas success is not attained at the very first go.
For example suppose a Sadhak is engaged in an eleven day Sadhana and even by the fourth or fifth day he has no divine experience, then he might be plagued by doubts. Suppose one is doing a Lakshmi Sadhana then during the period of Sadhana the expenses might shoot up. But if one persists and completes the Sadhana then without doubt the Goddess of wealth is pleased and blesses one with financial success. One's stars might have planned a poverty ridden life for the individual and accomplishing Sadhana for wealth would mean fighting against Nature. This struggle could result in a sudden rise in spendings in the beginning. And naturally some Sadhaks might start to doubt the efficacy of the Mantra and the Sadhanas. They might become doubtful whether Gods and Goddesses are actually there or they would ever appear before them. There might be doubts whether t he Sadhana is correct or the Yantra being used is actually Mantra energised. They start to think that if the Sadhana or Mantra were efficacious then the result would have manifested.Because success has not accrued there must be something wrong with the Sadhana or maybe the Guru has guided us wrong. Doubts start to assail their minds and as a result the Sadhak gives up the Sadhana even before he begins it. And even if they do accomplish the Sadhana they do it filled with doubts due to which they are not able to succeed.
Lord Krishna has said in Bhagwat Gita -
Ashraddhyaa Hutam Dattam Tapastaptam Kritam Cha Yat. Asadityuchyate Paarth Na Cha Tatpretya No Iha.
i.e. Havan or Yagna, charity, Tapa and Sadhanas accomplished without faith and devotion are but useless and they bring no rewards.
Devotion and faith are the biggest assets of a Sadhak. He should have faith in the Guru, in the Mantra, Yantra, gods, goddesses and deities. A real Sadhak should accomplish all Sadhanas determinedly like Lord Buddha.
Ihaasane Shushkayatu Me Shareeram Tvagasthimaansaam Pralayanch Yaatu.
Apraapya Bodham Bahukalp Durlabham Nevaasnaat Kaaymanashchlishyate.
i.e. Lord Buddha had pledged when doing Tapa - My body might perish, my skin might shrivel and the bones might crumble but I will not get up from this Sadhana seat till I have had total realisation.
A Sadhak should have such a determination so that he could make actual progress in his Sadhanas. More he progresses more he realises that Sadhanas are not imaginary but real.
4. Sadguru

Sadguru does not mean some human being. Sadguru is an entity who can bestow real knowledge, who can make one rise high in life, who can bestow totality in life, who can direct one to right path.
One needs to reflect on these facts because today there are very few real, experienced and realised Sadgurus. There is no dearth of people claiming to be Gurus. In every street you will find a Guru. But most of them are just arrogant individuals who are only after wealth, fame and physical pleasures. Without having accomplished any Sadhanas they claim to be Yogis and some even call themselves God. In such a crowd of pseudo Gurus it becomes very difficult for a common man to find and choose a real master.
It is the greatest fortune for a disciple to find a Sadguru in his life. A Guru is needed in life to guide the Sadhak onto the path of Sadhanas, to help him overcome obstacles on the path of Sadhanas and to instil divine energy into him in order to overcome problems. The Yogis who are expert in the science of Tantra state that through Diksha obtained from a Guru a Sadhak gains divinity and all his sins are absolved.
Changing Gurus frequently also leads to problems in Sadhanas. Although all Sadhanas lead to the same goal yet the paths are different. Today you might start Prannayam and tomorrow on advice of some other person you could take to Hatth Yoga. Third day you might even give up Yoga and start chanting some Mantra and fourth day you might take to listening to divine discourses. Wandering from one path to another or changing Gurus cannot help one make progress.
Lord Krishna has said in Gita -
Tad Viddhi Prannipaaten Pariprashnen Sevayaa. Upadekshyanti Te Gyaanam Gyaaninas-tatvadarshin.
i.e. To gain real knowledge go to those who have realised Supreme Element. By bowing before such Yogis, by serving them selflessly, by asking them questions sincerely one can learn a lot. These are means to please them and then they become willing to impart true knowledge. But this knowledge can be gained only from a Sadguru.
5. Fame

One big obstacle for a Sadhak on the path of spiritualism is fame. When people living around realise that a Sadhak has successfully accomplished a particular Sadhana they become devoted towards him. They start to give him regard through their words and gestures. The Sadhak too is but a human being and he too likes to be respected and honoured. When he gets these from the society he starts to crave for more and more. As a result he forgets his aim of worshipping the Supreme and joins the race of earning more fame and name. This results in loss of Sadhana power. He loses his innocence, humility and becomes arrogant. Purity of mind and heart is lost and one is filled with anger and false pride. So a Sadhak should never reveal his powers to the society. One must rise high in the spiritual world and not in the material world. This is the real way to progress.
6. Celibacy

Another obstacle on path of spiritualism is sex. Until there is enough energy in Sadhak's body he cannot succeed in Sadhanas. One needs power of the physical body, mind, senses and soul and this energy is conserved and boosted through Brahmacharya or celibacy. Hence a Sadhak should not indulge in excess sex. He should shun negative company and not eat food that could delude the senses and lead to loss of celibacy.
Even the married Sadhaks should observe celibacy as much as they could, to preserve vital energy. More one restrains oneself more the energy that builds up and faster one succeeds in Sadhanas.
Lord Hanuman remained a celibate throughout life and as a result he had immense physical strength. He was brave, powerful and very spiritual. He was most devoted to the Lord. He possessed all knowledge and all divine powers called Siddhis. It was due to these powers that he could assume a giant form or become smaller than even a fly. When crossing the ocean on his way to Lanka he assumed a huge form and jumped over the ocean. And when entering Lanka in order to avoid being detected he assumed a form smaller than a fly.
Bheeshma observed celibacy throughout life and as a result he was blessed with the power that death would not come to him till he so desired. Lord Parshuram who was invincible and who had defeated everyone on earth had to face defeat after a battle of 23 days with Bheeshma. This was the result of the celibate life Bheeshma led.
7. Wishes

The Sadhak who does not become free of material wishes has to face many obstacles on the path of Sadhanas. Wishing and desiring leads to anger, infatuation and greed and as a result the Sadhak loses his balance of mind. Hence once should always keep the mind free of desires.
8. Criticising others

Finding faults in others is the biggest obstacle for a Sadhak. A Sadhak should not waste his time in such activities and not worry what others are doing. The Sadhak should always remain concentrated in his own Sadhanas so that there is no time left for such useless activities.
Those who fall into habit of criticising others cannot progress well in Sadhanas, for they are wasting a lot of their thought power in a useless exercise. One should always remember the words of the great saint Kabeer -
Buraa Jo Dekhan Mein Chalaa, Buraa Na Miliyaa Koy. Jo Dil Khojaa Aapanaa, Mujhasaa Buraa Na Koy.
i.e. When I started to look for bad qualities in others I ultimately realised that there is no more bad person than me.
Remember that if you point one finger at others in accusation three fingers shall be pointing towards you. What I mean to say is that before accusing others even once evaluate your own self at least thrice. One should look at one's own thoughts and try to remove one's faults instead of finding the same in others.

Sadhana : The Right Way
Every Sadhak tries his best to accomplish daily worship and use special Mantra rituals. But every Sadhana has a particular procedure and every deity or the Guru is worshipped in a particular manner: Presenting some important rules is this wonderfully enlightening article.
In every Sadhana, Upchaar or special worship of deity has an important place. Upchaar means devotedly making some offerings to the deity in order to win his or her grace.
There is no fixed rule for Upchaar but including this worship procedure in Sadhana assures quicker success. There are different types of Upchaars ranging from Ekopchaar to Sahastropchaar. Our article shall focus only on Shodashopchaar, Dashopchaar and Panchopchaar forms of worship in which 16, 10 and 5 articles are offered respectively. In each age, forms of worship have been different but in the present age of hustle and bustle performing a Sadhana itself is a great fortunate achievement and the shorter the procedure the better.
It is best to do Shodashopchaar worship in which 16 articles are offered but in daily Sadhana Panchopchaar worship would suffice and in it five articles namely fragrance, flowers, incense, ghee lamp and sweets are offered.
Shodashopchaar

This includes -

Aavaahan

Many do not count this in the procedure and instead just offer prayers to the deity. It means inviting the deity concerned to come and bless the Sadhak. For this both hands are joined and the following Mantra is chanted.
Aavaahayaami Devesh Sarvashakti Shakti Samanvite,
Naaraaynnaay Bhadraay Gururoopaayate Namah.
Guru Brahmaa Guru Vishnnuh Gurudevo Maheshwarah.
Guru Saakshaat Parbrahma Tasmei Shree Gurave Namah.

Aasan

A worship mat is used in order to make the physical body free of ailments, the soul pure and gain divine powers. Basically a man acts as a bad conductor and does not allow energy of Mantra chanting from being earthed. Torn, burnt, and used mats are prohibited. Deer skin, tiger skin, grass, silk, cotton and wool mats are best. Deer skin for gain of knowledge, tiger skin for spiritual progress & wealth, and wool for riddance from sorrows and poverty are prescribed. Deities are offered a mat of flowers and then the following Mantra is chanted.
Ramyam Sushobhanam Divyam Sarva Soukhyakaram Shubham.
Aasanam Cha Mayaa Grihaann Parameshwar.

Paadya

Offering water in the feet of the deity is called Paadya. For this two spoonfuls of water is offered chanting thus.
Yad Bhakti Lesh Samparkat Paramaanand Sambhavah.
Tasmei Te Parameshaan Paadyam Shuddhaay Kalpaye.

Arghya

Water offered to deities for washing their hands is called Arghya. Mix flowers and fragrance in water in a tumbler. Offer chanting thus.
Arghyam Grihaann Devesh Gandh Pushpaakshateih Sah.
Karunnaam Kuru Me Dev! Grihaannaarghya Namastu Te.

Aachamaniya

Water offered to deities for rinsing the mouth is called Aachamaniya. Offer water chanting -
Sarva Teerth Samaaneetam Sugandhim Nirmalam Jalam.
Aachmyataam Mayaadattam Grihaann Parameshwar.

Snaan

All deities are present in the ocean of knowledge, still three spoonfuls of water is offered as a mark of respect for a bath.
Gangaa Saraswatee Revaa Payoshanni Narmadaajaleih.
Snaapitosi Mayaa Dev Tathaa Shaantim Kurushnna Me.

Vastra

Clean & new clothes are offered. Offering old, torn clothes leads to losses. Mouli (holy red thread) can be offered instead chanting thus.
Sarva Bhooshaadi Ke Soumye Lok Lajjaanivaaranne.
Mayopapaadite Tubhyam Grihaann. Parameshwar.

Madhupark

Bathe the deity with honey. The Mantra is -
Om madhuvvaataa Rataayate madhuKsharanti sindhavaH maadhveenrah santvoShadheeH.
madhunaktamutoSh so madhumat paarthav (Gum) rajaH.
madhu dhaurastu naH pitaa madhumaatro vanaspatiH madhumaanastu sooryaH maadhvee graavo bhavantunaH.
madhu snaanam samarpayaami namaH.
After this, bathe the deity again with pure water chanting :
punaH shuddhodak snaanam samarpayaami.

Tilak

For riddance from sins, afflictions and misfortune a mark is made on the forehead of the deity. Sandalwood paste is best otherwise Ashtgandh, Gorochan, camphor, saffron and musk can also be used. Mantra -
Shree Khand Chandanam Divyam Gandhaaddyam Sumanoharam.
Vilepanam Surshreshtth Chandanam Pratigrihyaataam.

Akshat

Akshat means unbroken rice grains which are offered to gain wealth and prosperity. Mix with vermilion and offer them chanting thus.
Akshtaashcha Surshreshtth Kumkumaaktaah Sushobhitaah.
Mayaa Niveditaa Bhaktyaa Grihaann Parameshwar.

Pushp

Offer flowers to the deity for comforts, good luck and health chanting thus.
Maalyaadeeni Sugandheeni Maalatyaadeeni Veiprabho.
Mayopaneetaani Pushpaanni Grihaann Parameshwar.

Dhoop

Offer incense made from choicest and most fragrant herbs to the deity chanting thus.
Vanaspati Rasodbhootah Gandhaaddyah Sumanoharah.
Aaghreyah Sarvasevaanaam Dhoopoyam Pratigrihayataam.

Deep

Lighting a lamp before a deity signifies dispelling of darkness of ignorance from the Sadhak's life. Mantra -
Suprakaasho Mahaadeepah Sarvatah Timiraapahah.
Sa Baahyaamyaram Jyotih Deepoyam Pratigrihyataam.

Neivedya

Neivedya means elixier. While offering sweets or food articles chant this.
Neivedyam Grihyataam Dev Bhaktim Me Hyachalaam Kuru.
Eepsitam Me Varam Dehi, Sarvasoubhaagya Kaarakam.

Taambool

Offer a betel leaf containing betel nuts, cloves and cardamom. A betel leaf is symbolic of the sixteen Kalas or divine virtues. Mantra-
Poongifalam Mahad Divyam Naagvalee-rdaleiryutam.
Elaadi Choornna Sanyuktam Taamboolam Pratigrihyataam.

Naariyal

Take the naariyal in both hands chanting -
yatraa te dhratasy dhrataa te dhaaraNe viniyogaH dhee brahraar dhrataa vachanaa yatraasv yatraa bhargo devaanaam dakshiNaaye saagarasy mahaalaKshmye sampoorNayate saprabhaavaan japaa mam tvaam amuk gotrotpannoH ...... amuk sharmaaH ...... tvaam purn bal buddhi vidhya purNatvam tvaam charaNe naarikel fal grahmaati tvaam charne samarpayaami namaH.
Offer your body, strength and mind to the deity in the form of a naariyal.

Neeraanjan Aarti

Sing the aarti(special hymn) of the deity whom you are worshipping. For Aarti use a lamp with one or five wicks. Mantra-
Aanand Matra Makarandam Anant Gandh Yogineendra Susthir Malindam Apaastabandham Vedaant Karannek Vikaashsheelam Naaraayannasya Charannaambuj Maanatosmi.

With this the worship is over. If one is not able to do Shodashopchaar worship one should do Panchopchaar worship while chanting the Mantras with full devotion.
One should daily offer prayers to one's deity and Guru.

SADHANA Extracts
Through Sadhanas even impossible looking tasks are accomplished. Basically Sadhanas aim at confluence of two energies - that of the subconsciousness and that of the deity who is propitiated through a ritual. The propitiation is done through Mantra chantings which are special divine incantations to which the divine forces respond very quickly. But sometimes even this combination may fail specially if the Sadhak is weak willed. In that case one needs a powerful Guru whose divine powers can boost one's will to amazing levels. Such a Guru is Paramhans Nikhileshwaranand who has gifted hundreds of Sadhanas to thousands of Sadhaks and whosoever tried them with devotion got the highest level of success. This transfer of Divine Energy from Sadguru to Sadhak is diksha..
Knowledge is Power Supreme and True Knowledge knows no bounds. Knowledge increases by spreading, and it banishes the darkness of ignorance, superstition, misbeliefs and fear. With Dr. Narayan Dutt Shrimali
I had heard a lot about Dr. Shrimali in connection with occult knowledges. Both the ascetic and the householder aspirants had accepted his unrivalled authority. I hoped to meet this great scholar and talk to him regarding the field of spiritualism. At last my long cherished desire was fulfilled, and he spared me a few moments from his busy schedule. Following is the conversation which took place between us .
Q.   Dr. Shrimali you are considered as one of the most distinguished personalities throughout the world. How do you feel on being flocked by so many admirers?
A.  Basically, I am an inhabitant of Rajasthan and I have grown up in a very religious atmosphere. I was married off at a tender age and thus accomplished my Doctorate facing many problems and hardships. After that I decided to dedicate my whole life for the re-establishment of ancient lores of India, to introduce Mantra and Tantra to the society and Siddhashram Sadhak Parivaar has proved itself to be a solid foundation to my resolution.

Q.   Fine, for a moment, lets agree with the authenticity of the ‘Mantra’ and ‘Tantra’. But do we have experts of this field, even today?
A.  Of course! But they usually maintain a distance from the society. They like to remain engrossed in their Sadhanas, in the natural caverns of the Himalayas. But through immovable determination one can reach them and acquire Diksha and wisdom through them. I personally know many such outstanding personalities who are established at the highest levels of Sadhana.

Q.   Mr. Shrimali, will you tell us your age?
A.  You are making a big mistake if you are considering age as the duration between birth and death. It is but just a part of the continuance which we term life. You are considering physical age as everything, in which I am performing all my worldly tasks; but my spiritual age which has witnessed my renunciation, meditation and the ultimate attainment is beyond your viewing capabilities. Therefore, even if my physical age seems less my spiritual age is over thousands of years.

Q.   During what time did you perform your Sadhanas in the Himalayas?
A.  People whose spiritual powers are activated can witness their previous lives. They remember each and every moment and the various Sadhanas that they had accomplished previously. I myself have spent about two thousand years doing penance in the extremities of. Himalayas, and I can recollect all those incidents; when I was lost in my meditation in the icy caverns, when I was accomplishing Sadhanas of the highest order, when I attained the realization of God and thus acquired totality of life. These incidents are closely related to my present life as even today I visit the Himalayas daily. During the day I remain amidst my householder disciples, whereas during the night I am totally occupied in guiding my ascetic disciples.
In fact you cannot realise anyone’s spiritual age through the medium of mind, therefore it is useless to challenge the age, life and the powers of a ‘Yogi.’ In fact there is no such ground on which we can criticize or counter them.

Q.   Is ‘Siddhashram’ a reality, or is it your imagination?
A.  ‘Siddhashram’ is real and authentic. It is the greatest goal of spirituality and a lot has been mentioned about it in various ancient scriptures. It is a divine Ashram’ which extends for many miles, to the North of Mansarovar & Kailash. But being covered by a thick layer of ozone, nobody can see it and it is also not possible to take its picture from a plane or a satellite.
There is nothing such as death in this celestial land of elixir. Everybody is free from all kinds of sorrows, weakness, and anxieties. All seem to be savouring the effects of pleasure, juvenility and happiness. Even today one can see the great Yogis like Vashishtha. Vishwamitra, Garg, Atri, Kanad, Shri Krishna, Shankaracharya etc. wandering about, and can converse with them for acquiring guidance in various Sadhanas. In fact it is the duty of Siddhashrami’ to maintain the equilibrium between materialism and spiritualism, and to work it out extraordinary Yogis present themselves in this world, from time to time.
A person can enter ‘Siddhashram’ only through spiritual powers and only then he achieves the totality of life.

Q.   Won’t the people become indolent if you involve them in the golden dreams of Mantra and Tantra?
A.  There is no question of becoming indolent because diligence is very essential in the field of Sadhana. When you cannot subjugate even a person these days, then imagine the assiduousness with which one has to work, to subjugate the supernatural powers. It requires total dedication, hard work, and the ability to utilize every moment and that too while performing the duties of the household, Only then the person will be able to transform himself into a rational, civilized and a diligent personality.

Q.   You have claimed to have solved difficult problems through Tantra. Is it a fact, or a medium to acquire publicity?
A.  Tantra and Mantra have been created to make the human life more successful and pleasurable. Just try and perform these Mantras yourself in a systematic way, and surely all the, problems of your life will drift away. But it requires accurate pronunciation of the Mantras, authentic Sadhana material and proper guidance. Many of my disciples have attained the zenith of success through them, in a matter of days, and today they are considered as eminent personalities of the society.

Q.   But our scientists don’t approve the authenticity of Mantra-Tantra, and the intellectual class also makes fun about it.
A.  The scientists can’t approve it, they have their own limitations and therefore their intellectual capabilities cease on crossing these limits. They find themselves helpless in penetrating the world of spirituality. In fact the commencement of Sadhana begins only after the termination of science.
Therefore it is useless to compare the two. However, even the western scientists have accepted the transcendental powers of the Yogis and they are researching in this field.
And if people make fun about it, it only specifies their narrow mentality. Those who are incompetent themselves, can do nothing but make fun of others. And it is wise to ignore fools.

Q.   We have heard that you can know about the previous life of a person, through Hypnotism?
A.  Yes, it is not a difficult task. The field of Hypnotism’ is very vast, and the present life of a person is related to his previous lives. Therefore an eminent hypnotist can peer into the previous life, solve the mysteries pertaining to the present misfortunes and if he is accomplished with spiritual powers, he can also destroy the ill effects of the previous deeds, with the help of ‘Yogic’ practices.

Q.   Are Gods and Godesses real?
A.  Of course! All the Gods and Goddesses mentioned in our scriptures are real, and one can acquire their glimpse by performing their respective Sadhanas. But for this, it is very necessary to dedicate yourself completely in the feet of the deity. There is no place for doubt in this field. Lord Krishna had also quoted in the Gita that ‘Sanshayaatama Vinashyati’ i.e. a doubting mind leads to destruction.
Therefore it is useless to hope for divine favours unless you are pure within.

Q.   How can we believe their existence when we can’t see them? This is nothing but misleading the people.
A.  I ask you whether you have seen the Niagara falls of Canada? If no, then how come you have accepted it’s existence? And suppose if you deny its presence then also it will remain there. In the same way the Gods and Goddesses are .real, and even you can acquire their glimpse after attaining a certain level in spirituality.
Basically we consider only those things authentic, which we are able to see, when in fact it is but just a millionth part of the creation. The whole universe is distributed into two parts--physical and metaphysical. And this metaphysical universe is beyond our realisation. It consists of many worlds which are unique in every way in comparison to the physical one and a person can enter it only through the power of Sadhana.

Q.   Will you perform some of your skills in front of us?
A.  It is not a juggler’s play, which can be exhibited everywhere; only those people perform miracles who are mean and want to meet their selfish ends. The ambition of my life is to perform reliable tasks and I am determined to do so. Miracles always prove to be obstacles in this field, therefore even if you put faith in me or not, I cannot step down from my principles.
However, miracles can be experienced from time to time, and can only be exhibited under special circumstances.

Q.   Do you have a Guru, or are you keen on proving yourself as accomplished?
A.  I am nothing but a particle of dust and am performing all these deeds on the order of my Guru who is my soul and life. My Gurudev, Paramhans Swami Sachidanand is the most eminent personality of the spiritual world and is the organizer of Siddhashram. Though I will return back to him, as soon as he orders me, my disciples will continue to kindle the flame of Mantra-Tantra in the hearts of millions.

Q.   We also want to meet your Guru.
A.  It is simply impossible for an ordinary person. He remains in ‘Siddhashram’ and as I have cleared earlier, he can be contacted only through Sadhana.
Even the Gods are eager to acquire his glimpse. It is possible only through the help of a Guru related to the Siddhashram, and thus a person can meet him after accomplishing ‘Sadhanas’ of the highest order.

Q.   Your disciples consider you as a manifestation of God. Have you hypnotised them?
A.  It is their feeling, that they say so. It is not my wish to be called a God. I only want to remain a human being; and there is no need to hypnotise the disciples because they are all inseparable part of my heart and there is no place for meanness in this relationship. You can understand this exalted state only after becoming a disciple. And you can consider the Guru in any form because in this field one gains according to one’s devotion. This is a world of emotions completely liberated from the grasp of the materialistic world.

Q.   The country is undergoing tumultuous conditions. Isn’t it your duty to solve the problems of the nation through your divinity, when you can accomplish impossible feats in seconds?
A.  Whatever I am doing is for the benefit of mankind and it is my duty to do so. Nevertheless no Yogi normally tries to interrupt with the possibilities of nature. Also there is a special time for every task. It will however be more honourable if we triumph over the opposite circumstances through our efforts and Sadhanas.

Q.   How many disciples of yours have been able to attain ‘Siddhis’ (powers)? Will you introduce them to us?
A.  I am very lucky to have such disciples, who have proved their ability by acquiring success in distinguished Sadhanas and attaining Siddhis’ of the highest level. Some of them have even visited Siddhashram’. Among these successful disciples there are people pertaining to different classes of society and the women have not lagged behind. In the future all my disciples will come forward, illuminating the whole world like the Sun, and will represent the spiritual age. They will give a new direction; a new light to the society and thus will be able to drive away the darkness from the minds of millions.

Q.   Only time will decide (if it is right or wrong). But please tell us about the different knowledges and lores that one can achieve through you?
A.  You are quite right, time is the best judge. Nevertheless, I had an inclination towards every ancient knowledge of India and today most of the people visit me with the hope of acquiring knowledges like Astrology, Karnikand, Tantra, Mantra, Ayurved, Paarad Vigyan. Surya Vigyan, Hypnotism etc. I have my own criteria for an eligible disciple, and a half hearted person cannot stand my test.
But those who are determined, face all the challenges smilingly. The flame of Sadhana continues to ignite in their hearts and thus they become precious jewels, of this field, in future. My doors are always open to such aspirants who are willing to sacrifice themselves for achieving these extraordinary knowledges.

Q.   What are your future plans? To increase the number of disciples, to establish your institution at an international level or to rebuild the nation?
A.  I don’t wish for a train of disciples. My institution is based on humanitarian principles and it will surely reach the top. Every alert aspirant will surely come in its contact. Nobody is satisfied in today’s social order. Everybody desires to rise upward and view life in a more pleasant way. It is my wish that every person of society achieves success; a desire for wisdom, imagination, spiritualism is born in them and thus they mould a new life with the assistance of Sadhanas. Then only ‘my’ presence will be justified, then only this vast institution will prove its utility and then only the human life will achieve totality. I dedicate all the moments of my life, and every drop of my blood, for the cause of such a sacred purpose.

A Day Spent With Gurudev
Lord Shree Krishna has said in Geeta “I am Immortal and have an eternal form, hence I am not born again and again. But in order to spread divine enlightenment among all living beings and for leading them onto the path of virtues I appear on this earth in human form with the help of nature.”
If only one had the words to define the greatness of a Guru. The love for the divine Guru seems to surge up from the depth of the head, but the tongue fails to convert these celestial expressions into words, only tears roll out and speak out about the deep affection between a Guru and a disciple.
Ah! What pleasure one attains in the company of the Guru and what pain and longing one suffers on being away from him. Both are divine, ecstatic states because in the former, one is before the Guru’s holy form and in the latter his holy form remains constantly before one’s eyes. And when after long moments of waiting one does meet the Guru or just has a glimpse of him then the heart and the soul soar to new heights of joy and happiness. Each second spent with him leaves an unerasable mark on the heart & the soul, which delights the disciple through ages with the pleasant memories of those moments.
Yogi Raj Vishvabodhanand spent one full day with Reverent Gurudev and collected a bouquet of fragrant moments which he decided to spread among all, through the following account...
It was 20th of January of the year 1993. A divine day indeed, when I got to meet Reverent Gurudev after such a long time. As I look back into time, I remember that it was 40 yrs. back when Gurudev had left the sacred Siddhashram on the directions of his own Guru Paramhans Swami Sachidanandji. What a heart touching parting it was! A great task had been put on the shoulders of Gurudev to infuse the spiritualism on the earth with a new vigour and force. And no doubt, none else than Gurudev could have accomplished this task.
He kept in constant touch with us, the Yogis of Siddhashram, through Telepathic powers and kept directing us about the intricacies of Sadhanas and the deep knowledge of Brahma. Not only me, but each Yogi felt a void due to his absence and longed to meet him. Even the Sadhanas & Siddhis or the manifestations of Gods were not able to fill this emptiness.
And one day I made up my mind to determinedly try to meet him, if only for a day. It was about six years back and when I requested him to accept my wish he firmly refused saying that I would not be able to stay for even a moment in this world filled with deceit, hatred and Jealousy. But then he felt my longing to meet him and he consented. Or maybe I became a medium of showing the other Yogis of Siddhashram how difficult & arduous the propagation of spirituality is on this earth. I received his consent through Telepathy and the very next day I reached Jodhpur through my Yogic powers.
It was early in the morning and the whole city was bathed in golden rays of the rising sun. The city surrounded by hills was enveloped in a divine natural peace and serenity of the early morning, a virgin atmosphere not yet sullied by the poisonous chaos, commotion and tensions of the daily life. As I reached the house, which was to be my destination my eyes fell upon a divine scene which even Gods long to see. Reverent Mother, the wife of Gurudev was offering water to the holy basil plant and a few yards away sat Holy Gurudev. Forty long years..., I thought...,and my eyes filled with tears of joy on seeing Gurudev, Dr. Narayan Dutt Shrimali as he was now known. Yes! This was the divine form I had come to meet..., This was the so revered and great Yogi Paramhans Swami
Nikhileshwaranand, sitting there in the guise of a simple householder. Such an immense personality and in such a simple mundane form? Even I having reached the elevations of Yoga, became doubtful for a second, but .the next moment seeing the familiar brilliance and determination on his face, I became satisfied, Just like a lost fawn does on recognising his mother.
It was now around 7.30 A.M. and the city of Jodhpur had become hot in accordance to it’s title of the city of the Sun. It was the greatness of Reverent Gurudev that he was living here unperturbed after having spent years in the cool, peaceful mountains of the Himalayas and in Siddhashram. On seeing me he rose and beckoned me to follow him to his office.
As the door opened hundreds of daily visitors rose up , eager to meet him. Just as the fragrance of roses cannot be stopped from spreading even by covering them, similarly the greatness of such a Yogi cannot be hidden by worldly bearings and whoever just sees him cannot remain without being enchanted by his divine form.
This world is full of various problems, various tensions and difficulties; and spiritualism has become much degenerated today. People just come to Gurudev with their day to day problems and Gurudev remaining ever peaceful and smiling listens to all with patience and transfers his divine powers into them thus making their lives smooth and happy. I was overwhelmed to see the affection he has for the common men. Whereas great Yogis fear to speak to him apprehending that they may speak out some thing wrong, the common men come and empty out all their woes & anguish before him and returns filled with confidence and joy.
On an average the bell of the phone rang out after every minute and politicians, famous actors, directors, & scientists spoke to him concerning various difficulties in their respective fields. And Guruji kept answering to these calls without even a frown, listening and counselling these men on the way to prosperity & success.
I was amazed to see how many tasks he carried out or supervised at the same time. Edition of the monthly magazine Mantra-Tantra-Yantra Vigyan, directing the typist to answer each letter received in a particular way, planning out the next Sadhana camp . ., all went on simultaneously and smoothly. How could he carry out so much work at the same time? I have seen him in deep meditation for days on, and now under so much work..., I really felt sad on seeing him toil so much that too when the people were not able to comprehend his real feelings and his true capabilities.
At around 3 p.m. Reverent Mother had to come herself, after sending several messages, to ask him to have food. And then also he got up unwillingly.
After having food he became busy with the writing of his forthcoming books. And soon it was evening and the blowing of the conch shell in the room of worship announced the time for ‘Aarti’ (Prayers). After Aarti it was the time for Guruji to immerse himself in Sadhanas. I said to myself that Guruji had promised to me that I would spend one whole day with him. Would I be able to see him in Sadhana? And as if reading my mind Guruji asked me to follow him to the room of Sadhana.
Every Yogi is filled with anxiousness regarding the Sadhanas of Guruji and if one just stands with him one is filled with a divine ecstasy and now I was fortunate enough to enter his room of Sadhana & go into a trance with him. More than a joy, I was filled with apprehension ...
The room was lit with a divine, soothing illumination as seen at the advent of early dawn. A small copper idol of Goddess Kali, vanquisher of all evils was placed in the room. It must have been enlivened with celestial energy and seemed ready to speak out. In front of it was placed a lamp of pure ghee which kept burning day and night, and the light emanating from the lamp enlightened the face of the Idol and although there was no bulb in the room It seemed as if a bright light filled all the corners. A pleasant fragrance, seemingly of camphor overpowered my senses and I was filled with a soothing sensation.
Whereas outside the room it was very hot, here it felt cool and pleasant. My heart and soul knew no bounds and then an exhilarating feeling gripped me. The room seemed to be moving around in circles and I seemed to have become a part of this centrifugal motion. Soon it all became so mind boggling that I almost staggered and had to sit down, holding the side wall for support. It seemed as if all power had been drawn out of my legs and my whole body was trembling with an unknown excitement. As my vision cleared, I saw that Gurudev had already gone into deep meditation. With a strong will I tried to control my excitement.
Suddenly the room resonated with chanting of Mantras and filled with a hazy smoke. And then a loud ear shattering noise . . ., It seemed as if lightening had struck . . ., and a huge, and bright figure with red eyes appeared ... First it bowed down before Gurudev and then ate all the offerings. . . Again it bowed down in reverence and disappeared into the mist. From the Mantras being recited by Gurudev I came to know that the God who had just appeared was Mahakaal Bhairav.
I do not know whether to call it my good fortune or Gurudev’s kindness for after the manifestation of Bhairav soon I also had the Darshan (manifestation) of Ganpati and Bhagwati Gayatri, a phenomenon very rarely seen even in Siddhashram. And then my long desired wish came up in my mind. Ah! Only if I would have the fortune of having the manifestation of Bhagwati(Mother) Kali. As if reading my thoughts Gurudev started the recital of Kali Stavan (the prayer of Goddess Kali) in a melodious and devotional voice.
As the recital went on, the room became more and more illumined and the idol of Kali seemed to move. At first I thought that it was caused due to the wavering of the flame of the lamp, but as the idol started increasing in size, it soon touched the roof and my breathing stopped with astonishment. Gurudev chanted some Mantras and left the water in his palm onto the ground. As soon as he did this, a sharp fragrance like that of camphor filled the entire room and Mahakali appeared before us with all her divinity. An illumined and divine form, with anger on her face and at the same time showering the affection of a Mother. Wearing a string of human skulls around her neck, holding all weapons as described in the texts and laughing with a ring of victory. A victory over Kaal (time)..., a victory over all evil...! Yes this was Mahakali, the saviour of all, who even in this fearful form is able to bestow the love of a Mother on her devotees. Such brilliance and radiance emanated from her divine form that my eyes could not bear to look at her, and closing my eyes I prayed to her to return to her original form.
The very next moment Gurudev recited the Shanti Paath (the prayer of attaining peace) and the form of Kali started shrinking and soon all the divinity returned into the idol. And then I knew that the idols too can have great powers and celestial brilliance if the Guru is kind enough to present these forms before his disciple. Due to the great radiance, I lost all sense and went into a trance without any knowledge of my surroundings. Only the image of Kali kept hovering in my subconscious mind.
When Reverent Mother entered the Sadhana room it was already morning and coming out of my trance I saw Gurudev still in deep meditation. The chirping of the birds announced the rising of the sun and I remembered that I had got the permission to remain with Gurudev for 24 hours only. Now I had to return . . ., I felt sad on having to leave him.
But Gurudev was his normal, cool self. He started his day as usual and was soon on his way to his office. As I looked into his eyes, they seemed to say “Duty is duty, whatever the circumstance may be.” During his Sadhana in the nights, he remains in Telepathic contact with each Yogi of Siddhashram and keeps giving valuable directions to them. He is a single person but he carries on various works, not only in the material but also in the spiritual field. I have never been able to comprehend when he wakes up, when he sleeps, when he does his work, when he performs his Sadhanas and at the same time how he also remains in contact with his 6 lakh disciples.
I bow down before his divine form and wish that he soon returns to his earlier life of ascetism and leads us on this path holding our hands and guiding us on.

A Blooming Rose Amidst a Blazing Desert

"I am foreseeing a great massacre in the coming months ... and blood on the whole earth due to the arrogance of a neighbouring nation"... and gloominess would prevail in Dr. Shrimaliji's eyes ...
I do not know much about Shrimaliji as a Guru, but I am totally aware of his abilities as a successful astrologer. I have had the honour to accompany him in the Astrologer's Conferences and have seen him presiding as the chairman of the World's Astrological Convention. I have realised that through he is very sentimental, he is an excellent astrologer.
One experiences happiness and satisfaction on obtaining his glimpse and undergoes undefined intoxication on acquiring his company. A strange tranquility is felt and it seems as if we are sitting with a notable individuality or to be more precise a divine being. I have seen him smiling and laughing and have also witnessed him undergoing spell of gloominess and seriousness.
Yet, he is away from all kinds of mental anxieties and tensions. He is not affected by the family problems either, because he is always busy composing one thing or the other, let it be a poetry, a magazine or a book based on Astrology.
Shrimaliji is the first person who has opposed the stereotyped traditions and has thus presented Astrology to the society in other languages apart from Sanskrit. He established this science in a more relaxed and simple way. He tried his best to fight out the fanaticism and bigotism and it is only due to his great efforts that today Jyotish Conferences are held frequently at different places. Apart from this, Astrology and the people practicing it, are conferred a respectable place in the society. People have started looking upon it as an authentic lore and it has only been possible due to the amazing endeavours of Shrimaliji.
I have known him since a long time. He would always become morbid whenever a catastrophe was about to take place. When India faced the assault of China in the year '62, I contacted him on the phone and said, "Shrimaliji, a calamity has broken on the country. What will happen?" Shrimaliji replied on the phone itself, "Through India will unstabilize a little, it will stand up firmly on the face of the world in order to redeem it's self respect." And these few lines proved to be true in the coming days. India faced a humiliation but was also filled with self pride and was able to contain itself. As a result India inflicted a crushing defeat on Pakistan, during their conflict. I had met Shrimaliji in an Astrologer's meet which was held a few months before this war. I realised that Shrimaliji was very sad and troubled, and when I inquired about his anxiety and whether he was sound physically, he replied with desolate eyes -
"I am witnessing afflictions on India. The afflictions of war, calamity and catastrophe". He recomposed himself the next moment and his eyes glistened with brilliance, "But it is necessary", he continued, "because this will be the best opportunity for India to exhibit it's self respect and the world will realise India as a complete power after this war."
"What...?" I was dumbfounded.
Shrimaliji replied "Yes an adjoining nation will attack India in it's arrogance."
"This incident is bound to happen in the near future, I am witnessing a great massacre, uncountable war prisoners and I am foreseeing the land full of blood"... with this he stopped abruptly and started staring at the sky unceasingly.
All his prophesies proved authentic in a matter of months. Till today his lines are written in my diary as such, that it is right and necessary for such a war to take place, because due to this our country will be able to establish it's own self respect in the world. After this war the whole world will realise that India is a complete power in itself.
After this incident, I could not maintain contact with him as he had ceased taking part in the "Astrology Conventions", suspended his travels and was totally lost in himself. On one opportunity, when I met him in Delhi, I asked him the reason for not participating in the Conferences.
Shrimaliji replied, "Astrology is an honourable science, and when a respectable knowledge reaches the hands of lowly and petty people, it faces downfall. Faith is shattered and trust is withheld. I am seeing that people who do not possess even the basic knowledge of this science are claiming themselves to be astrologers of world fame, hence the downfall of this ancient knowledge has commenced, and as I consider myself unfit to sit amidst such world famous Astrologers, I have backed out.
And, I have also realised with dismay, that in every colony and community if a person is unable to acquire a job, he mugs up four-six books of Shrimaliji and claims to be a renowned astrologer. Apart from this he installs a board with "World famous Astrologer" written on it. In India today there are no Astrologers left of district fame or national fame, only the astrologers with international fame are presiding today.
I continuously obtained information about Shrimaliji through phone or other people and I intensely desired to spend a small period in his company and expand my knowledge in Astrology. He has such as unimaginable and treasured knowledge of "Falit Jyotish" that if I gain some knowledge from him and write a book on it, then it will be in itself a great service towards the nation. Though willing, he is unable to spare time and when I last met him, I found him totally engrossed in the composition of this Magazine and organising of Sadhana Camps. He has created a new path in order to resurrect the precious and ancient knowledge of India. He also stated "India is the prosperity of the world. Spiritualism, Yog and the Mantras are all Indian lores and they ought to be preserved. I will feel greatly relieved if I am able to utilize my whole self for this work." With this his face was overwhelmed with confidence.
After this meeting, I couldn't contact him for three-four years. I had moved to Europe for a year or two, and he also seemed to be busy in converting his thoughts into reality. However, I felt uncomfortable within and I desired to spend some time with him at any cost.
Recently I had the privilege to meet him at his residence in Delhi. He seemed weaker, but then also his face was gleaming with a glow of vigour, virility and dignity. I experienced a sense of pride and self confidence in him. There was no exciting news on the face of the world till that date.
One evening I was sitting with Shrimaliji in a balcony. He was reading a magazine when suddenly his facial features changed and he became serious. Keeping the magazine aside he started staring towards the sky in a sad and troubled mood.
I asked Shrimaliji why he was staring at the sky with such seriousness, when the whole sky was clear and filled with tranquility.
He gripped my hand suddenly and said that the redness of the sky is not elegant or attractive as it indicates the colour of blood. I am foreseeing pools of blood, a great slaughter, such a slaughter which is above imagination.... and all in the near future.
I became still for a moment. I recovered saying, "Shrimaliji, I am not experiencing such tensions in any corner of the world which can lead into a war. However, the world seems more serene, calm and peaceful than usual."
Shrimaliji did not speak anything, but he uttered slowly "Whatever I am seeing is true. I am experiencing the flowing blood of thousands of people in the redness of the sky. The blood which shall flow because of war, haughtiness, arrogance and due to the will to make oneself famous."
I remained quiet, but after a few days when I came across the news of America attacking Iraq I instantly remembered the prediction of Shrimaliji. He had just mentioned it only a few days ago, when he had witnessed blood in the redness of the setting sun, and when those days this great massacre was taking place, and the most sophisticated weaponry was being used, it seemed as if the whole world was going to be engulfed in blood. How precise are the predictions of Shrimaliji! How capably he is able to read the prophesies written on the forehead of the sky! Apart from this, he becomes greatly troubled and melancholy on experiencing such plunders and massacres. Only on seeing the emptiness and morbidness in his affectionate eyes, did I realise his agony for the first time.
I purposely reached Delhi during the war, only to find him sitting cheerlessly in his office. I said that whatever you had prophesised is coming out to be true. This war is being considered as one of the most fatal ones. The whole world is concerned about safety and moreover the equilibrium of the powers is wavering. Iraq is facing destruction and Soviet Union is not helping it in any way. Had U.S.S.R. backed up Iraq, America would not have dared to attack it.
Shrimaliji gazed at me, there was a deep silence and morbidness in his eyes. He said that it is Soviet Union's limitations due to which it is not in a position to back Iraq. On the contrary I am witnessing the splitting up of Soviet Union, in the near future", he added.
I was taken aback by this astonishing statement. I could not make out, how it was possible? Disintegration of a Super Power like Soviet Union was quite unimaginable. Who will believe in the splitting up of U.S.S.R., when there were no such indications.
I was myself full of doubts and I said to him, that you are saying U.S.S.R. will disintegrate. U.S.S.R. which is considered as the greatest power, an unbeatable force and which has made the whole world realise that it is capable of withholding the might of every Super power, and it is only due to its efforts that a power equilibirium has been maintained in the world.
Whatever Shrimaliji predicted at that that time is written down in my diary. It says that though Soviet Union seems to be invincible, it is completely hollow within and thus will face destruction. It will disintegrate in small portions and in the coming years the power equilibrium will be disturbed. The coming days will present America as a bully and thus it's pressure on the whole world will increase.
I did not say anything, but my intellect was not accepting that such an incident could happen. It was a prophesy which could not be believed, but I did not want to cut off Shrimaliji's remark in between therefore I remained quiet and left after conversing with him for a few more minutes. But history has witnessed, that all the prophesies of this great seer have come out to be true. A super power like U.S.S.R. disintegrated into small countries whereas America engaged itself in declaring itself the top most authority. In reality, I have realised that Shrimaliji possesses a divine power and he has deeply premeditated on the knowledge of Astrology. He has an ability to grasp the coming incidents. His predictions are complete and authentic in themselves.
A few days back when China had lent missiles to Pakistan, it seemed as if there was an intimate friendship between them. I rang Gr. Shrimaliji at Jodhpur and said - "We are placed between Pakistan and China, whereas the grip of America is tightening on us gradually."
Shrimaliji replied on the phone itself- " The coming days will witness our close friendship with China. It will prove to be our most faithful friend and a close ally ...., and a new power equilibrium will be formed by India, China and one other country."
It all seemed strange. China which had damaged our self respect and grabbed our land, will prove to be our closest ally! It was all unbelieving, but I have complete faith in Shrimaliji's knowledge. The part thirty years are it's evidence and I am assured that this prophesy will prove true in the coming days.
Shrimaliji is in fact the most unique astrologer, Mantragya and saint of this century. This is our great honour that we are living in the times of such a great seer,,,, Dr. Narayan Dutt Shrimaliji... , I present my humble salutations to him.
